My love affair with bamboo started long ago. At 14, I admired a pair of bamboo motif gold hoop earrings belonging to my grandmother and two years later she gifted those earrings to me for my Sweet 16. Later, when I was single-in-the-city I coveted a Gucci wallet with mock bamboo hardware and managed to snag it for myself when a friend’s brother offered his Gucci Employee discount. As a pre-wedding gift to my husband, I bought him a beautiful pair of sterling silver bamboo-motif cuff-links (also from Gucci, sans discount this time) which he misplaced before our first anniversary, never to be seen again. Grrr! Most recently, I gifted myself a John Hardy bamboo right-hand ring in rose gold with pavé accents. Love it! But I digress…
For fans of nature-inspired engagement rings, this organic design is a clear winner. The delicately detailed shanks reflect the natural variation of bamboo and delicate pavé accents highlight the natural nodes of a slender bamboo shoot.
Elegant double claw prongs hold the center stone in place, and this unique setting can be set with almost any shape diamond from pear to asscher. My preference is for a simple round diamond, but you can visit the James Allen website to preview this ring with any shape diamond and metal options including platinum, rose gold and yellow gold. No matter what your tastes are – there’s a way to customize this ring to suit them.

My favorite? The yellow gold bamboo engagement ring has a luxe, retro feel. I love how it complements my other bamboo-inspired pieces from Gucci and John Hardy. Pairing it with a lab-created diamond from James Allen will allow you to max out the luxe factor while keeping the budget in check.
Tell me in the comments what metal and diamond shape you would pick to customize this special ring for yourself.
